Westhill High School – Stamford, CT

Westhill High School in Stamford was the Connecticut winner of the Recycle Bowl, a contest sponsored by Keep America Beautiful in partnership with Nestle Waters. Westhill was the top school out of 28 Connecticut entrants for amount of per capita recycled material. A $1000 check was given to the school as a reward. As a Westhill student, I am so proud of my peers for recycling over 8000 pounds of material in throughout the month-long duration of the contest. We worked together as an entire student body to achieve an amazing result, generating around four pounds of recycled material per student in a single month. I am grateful to Keep America Beautiful for all the work that they do to inspire students, particularly through the Recycle Bowl contest. Through Recycle Bowl, Westhill students were motivated to attain a remarkable achievement, make our school more beautiful, and have a substantial environmental impact on our city.
