Keep America Beautiful – Topeka/Shawnee
Keep America Beautiful (KAB)- Topeka/Shawnee County celebrated their annual “Get Down and Get Dirty” event on Saturday, April 26th. This year’s event was the largest ever with over 1,600 volunteers canvassing the city and county for litter and debris. Volunteers removed shopping carts, a couch, a lawn mower, and a sink, among other items, from an estimated six miles of the Shunganunga Creek.
Waste Management of Kansas partnered with KAB – Topeka/Shawnee County for the event, providing roll-offs to collect the litter and debris, waived the landfill fees, and cooked lunch for all the volunteers who helped during the event.
