Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful, Inc. West Palm Beach, Florida

“Stand tall oh mighty oak, for all the world to see,
your strength and undying beauty forever amazes me.
Though storm clouds hover above you,
your branches span the sky,
in search of the radiant sunlight you
count on to survive.”

Mighty oaks were planted along with other native trees along a popular jogging path serenely situated at a beachside park called Carlin Park in Jupiter, Florida. The park had suffered tree loss during the hurricanes of 2004 and 2005 that provided much needed shade for residents and visitors. Thanks to a $20,000 grant from Lowe’s and Keep America Beautiful we were able to restore 89 trees to this beautiful place. But the real “Heroes” of this project were the employees of the Lowe’s Lake Park store that braved the Florida heat in August and came out to mulch the trees that were planted by our chosen contractor. In addition, the “Heroes” planted some ceremonial sea grape trees as testament to their hard work and to the community spirit and giving of their employer.
