On May 4th, 2013, Keep Vermilion County Beautiful (KVCB) held its annual Great American Cleanup event by beautifying the downtown Danville business district as well as the Douglas Discovery Garden. Volunteers ranging from the young to the elderly, descended to downtown Danville to plant around 6,000 bulbs in 26 sites in the downtown area. A group of teens (photographed here) planted flowers in front of the highly visible public library parking lot, which is transformed each summer into a Farmers Market.
Even though rain was predicted on the day of the cleanup, 155 volunteers showed up and worked quickly and efficiently to beat the rain. An early lunch was served as a reward for the volunteers’ hard work.
